Preparation

Documents to prepare before visiting the ward

The ward checks eligibility and category. Prepare identity, photos and proof for the exact benefit you are applying for, especially disability and single/widow woman categories.

Your preparation

Loading your checklist…

Only checklist tick marks are saved on this device. Tools Pasal never asks for or stores citizenship numbers, disability ID, medical reports, bank details, allowance records or beneficiary personal data.

Senior citizen

1. Senior citizen support and allowance

Senior-citizen benefits depend on the current government category. The general 70+ senior citizen allowance and special categories such as Dalit senior citizen or specified Karnali-area senior citizen are listed separately by DONIDCR.

  • Use official age proof; do not rely on estimated age.
  • Apply at the permanent-address ward for allowance registration.
  • Confirm whether your category has a separate age rule or required proof.
  • Keep bank/payment details consistent with citizenship name spelling.

Disability ID

2. Disability ID card and category

Disability ID is not only an identity card; the category affects services and allowance eligibility. Full disability and very severe disability categories are treated separately on the official allowance-rate page.

Allowance registration

3. Step-by-step social security allowance process

  1. 1

    Confirm the correct benefit category

Senior citizen, Dalit senior citizen, Karnali-area senior citizen, single/widow woman, disability and child nutrition grants have different rules.

  2. 2

    Prepare the supporting certificate

For disability allowance, the disability ID/category matters. For widow/single-woman allowance, civil-registration or marital-status proof may matter.

  3. 3

    Apply at the permanent-address ward

Submit documents at the ward office of the permanent address. The ward verifies identity, age/category and beneficiary details.

  4. 4

    Record bank or payment details

Follow the ward/local level's current payment route. Keep bank details and beneficiary name consistent with official identity records.

  5. 5

    Track approval and payment cycle

Allowance is not instant cash at the counter. Ask the ward when records are updated and how the payment cycle is handled in your municipality/rural municipality.

  6. 6

Update records after death, migration or category change

Death, migration, bank change, guardian change or disability-category change should be updated promptly to avoid stopped, duplicate or wrong payments.

Official rates

4. Selected monthly allowance rates

DONIDCR's published allowance-rate page currently lists the following monthly amounts. Treat this as a reviewed snapshot; the official page and your ward remain final.

FAQ

Senior citizen, disability ID and bhatta questions

Where do I apply for social security allowance in Nepal?

Apply at the ward office of your permanent address. DONIDCR's official social-security guidance points applicants to the permanent-address ward for allowance registration.

Does every senior citizen get allowance?

No. Eligibility depends on category, age, identity records and current government rules. The general senior-citizen category is different from Dalit senior citizen, Karnali-area senior citizen and other categories.

Does every disability ID card get monthly allowance?

No. Disability category matters. The official allowance rate page lists rates for full disability and very severe disability categories; other disability ID categories may not receive the same allowance.

What documents are needed for bhatta?

Common documents include citizenship/identity proof, photos, category proof, disability ID or medical documents if applicable, marital-status documents for widow/single-woman categories, and bank/payment details as required by the ward.

What are the current allowance rates?

DONIDCR publishes the official allowance-rate page. This guide shows selected rates reviewed on 4 July 2026, but the official page and ward notice should be checked before applying.

What should a family do after a beneficiary dies or migrates?

Update the ward/local level promptly. Death registration or migration registration can affect social security beneficiary records and payment routing.

Does Tools Pasal register allowance applications?

No. Tools Pasal only explains the process. We do not collect citizenship numbers, disability documents, bank details, allowance ID or personal beneficiary records.
