How the countdown works

The day counts compare your device’s date with each festival’s AD date from the reviewed 2083 calendar. Counts are in whole calendar days — on the festival’s own date it shows Today. Because the count uses your device clock, users outside Nepal’s timezone may see the number flip a few hours earlier or later than in Kathmandu.

Sources & disclaimer

Calendar data reviewed on June 21, 2026. The government can adjust holidays by notice during the year, and religious timing for rituals (saita) is set by the official Panchanga — for ceremony times, follow the committee’s publication or your purohit, not a countdown page.

Frequently asked questions

When is Dashain in 2083 (2026)?

Dashain 2083 begins with Ghatasthapana on October 11, 2026 (Ashoj 25) and the main day, Vijaya Dashami, falls on October 21, 2026 (Kartik 4). The public holidays run from Fulpati through Dashain Dwadashi per the Nepal Gazette holiday notice.

When is Tihar in 2083 (2026)?

Tihar's main holiday block starts with Laxmi Puja on November 8, 2026 and ends after Bhai Tika on November 11, 2026. Mha Puja and Nepal Sambat New Year fall between them.

How long is the Dashain holiday?

In the official 2083 holiday notice, the nationwide Dashain public-holiday block runs from Fulpati to Dashain Dwadashi — six consecutive public holidays. Ghatasthapana is also a public holiday earlier in the fortnight. Offices and schools may extend leave beyond the gazetted days.

Where do these dates come from?

Public holidays and festival dates come from the Ministry of Home Affairs' official 2083 holiday notice, and the BS–AD mapping comes from the reviewed 2083 panchang data. Dates are reviewed against those sources — this page never estimates festival dates from formulas.

Do all listed holidays apply to everyone?

No. The official notice scopes some holidays: Teej and Jitiya are holidays for women employees, Indra Jatra and Ghode Jatra apply to the Kathmandu Valley, Holi is split between hill and Terai districts on different days, and some Lhosars and Gai Jatra are community or region specific. The table marks every non-nationwide scope.

Will the countdown work for 2084?

The page covers Bikram Sambat 2083 (April 2026 – April 2027). When the 2084 gazette notice and panchang are published, the calendar data will be updated the same way as our Nepali Calendar page.
