Buying gold & silver in Nepal

Gold and silver are deeply tied to Nepali life — weddings, Tihar, Teej and as savings. Rates are fixed every day by FENEGOSIDA(the gold and silver dealers’ federation) and quoted per tola (about 11.66 g). The amount you pay at a shop is the metal value plus a making/jarti charge for craftsmanship and 13% VAT, so the final bill is always higher than the raw rate. This calculator helps you estimate that total before you buy. Note that Hallmark (24K) and Tejabi gold carry different rates.

Frequently asked questions

How is the price of gold jewellery calculated in Nepal?

Total price = (today's per-tola rate × weight in tola) + making/jarti charge + 13% VAT. Enter the rate and weight and the calculator shows each part and the total.

How many grams is one tola of gold?

One tola equals about 11.6638 grams. The calculator converts automatically if you enter the weight in grams.
