The safe purchase sequence
How to buy an iPhone in Nepal safely
- 1
Choose the iPhone family
Decide your real need: value model, regular iPhone, Air/thin model, Pro camera/performance, or Pro Max battery/screen. Do not start with colour only.

Use the weekly ledger as a shortlist. Then open the seller page and confirm storage, colour, stock and final checkout price.
- 3
Check MDMS before payment
Use the IMEI from the actual box or device on mdms.nta.gov.np. Avoid mismatched, not-registered, lost or suspicious IMEI results.
- 4
Verify warranty and invoice
Get a VAT bill and warranty evidence. Match serial/model on box, device and invoice; check Apple coverage where possible.
- 5
Confirm EMI or final payment
For EMI, get the monthly amount, fees and total payable in writing. For cash purchase, keep the invoice and return/warranty policy reference.
Nepal-specific safety check
Check MDMS and IMEI before buying
NTA’s MDMS portal says buyers should check whether a phone is registered in MDMS before purchasing in Nepal. For iPhone, this is not a small formality: imported or used phones can have more than one IMEI, and a suspicious result can turn a good-looking deal into a headache.
Find the IMEI
Dial *#06# on an opened phone, or read the IMEI printed on the sealed box.
Check official MDMS
Use mdms.nta.gov.np and choose the own-phone or new-phone check depending on your situation.
Match details
If the result is missing, mismatched, pending, rejected or marked lost, do not buy until the seller resolves it.

Used iPhone inspection checklist
MDMS / IMEI status
Dial *#06# and check every IMEI on the NTA MDMS portal. Avoid phones marked not registered, lost or mismatched.
iCloud / Activation Lock
The seller must erase the phone in front of you and remove it from their Apple ID. Never buy a phone stuck on Activation Lock.
Battery health
Check Settings → Battery → Battery Health. Low health is not always a deal-breaker, but price should reflect replacement cost.
Face ID, True Tone and parts history
Test Face ID, camera, speakers, charging and display. Check Settings → General → About for parts/service messages.
Water and physical damage
Inspect screws, frame gaps, camera lenses, display edges and charging port. Liquid damage usually voids warranty routes.
SIM/eSIM compatibility
Imported iPhones can differ by region. Confirm physical SIM/eSIM support with your NTC/Ncell plan before buying.

iPhone EMI and finance routes in Nepal
Do not calculate EMI by dividing the cash price by 12. A real EMI quote depends on bank, card limit, tenure, processing fee, interest, tax, down payment and whether the exact iPhone model is approved.

Practical Nepal advice
Which iPhone should you buy?
For most Nepali buyers, the best iPhone is not always the newest Pro Max. Start from budget and risk: if you need long battery and camera, Pro/Pro Max can make sense. If you want a safer value purchase, compare regular iPhone 16/17-style models and older official stock with full bill and warranty. If you want the thinnest design or eSIM-only style, confirm eSIM support with your operator before paying.
Avoid buying only from a Facebook price screenshot. A good deal should survive five checks: MDMS, VAT bill, warranty route, model/storage match and final total payable.

Common questions
iPhone buying FAQ for Nepal
What should I check before buying an iPhone in Nepal?
Check the exact model and storage, MDMS/IMEI registration, VAT bill, seller warranty, Apple coverage, SIM/eSIM support and total EMI cost if buying on installment.
Is MDMS required for iPhone in Nepal?
NTA's MDMS portal says buyers should verify whether a mobile set is registered before buying in Nepal. For imported or used iPhones, checking every IMEI is especially important.
Can I buy an iPhone on EMI in Nepal?
Yes, some sellers publish credit-card or hire-purchase routes, but eligibility depends on the exact iPhone model, stock, partner bank, card limit, tenure, documents and current programme. Always get a written quotation.
Is a grey-market iPhone safe to buy?
It can be risky. The price may be lower, but MDMS, warranty, VAT bill, region model, eSIM/physical SIM support and service support can create problems. Buy only if the seller proves IMEI status and warranty route clearly.
How do I check if a used iPhone is locked?
Ask the seller to erase the phone in front of you, remove it from their Apple ID and let you reach the setup screen. If Activation Lock or someone else's Apple ID remains, do not buy it.
Does iPhone Air work with physical SIM in Nepal?
Some newer iPhone variants can be eSIM-only depending on model/region. Before buying any eSIM-only iPhone, confirm NTC/Ncell eSIM availability for your number and your comfort with eSIM transfer/replacement.
Why does this guide not list every shop's iPhone price?
Only prices tied to reviewed seller pages are listed. Fast-changing marketplace or social-media quotes can be useful for shopping, but they are not stable enough for a maintained SEO guide unless manually verified.
