Domain Lookup & Availability

Check whether a domain is available or already taken, and see its age, registrar, expiry, DNS records and popularity — for .com, .org, Nepal’s .np and hundreds more. Free, no sign-in.

How to use the domain checker

Enter a domain — with or without https:// or www. — and press Check domain. You’ll see whether it’s available or registered, and for registered domains the registrar, creation date and age, expiry date, status, nameservers, DNSSEC and live DNS records.

How it works

The tool queries the official registry using RDAP (the modern, structured replacement for WHOIS) and falls back to traditional WHOISfor TLDs that don’t support RDAP yet. It also reads live DNS records (A, MX, NS, TXT) so you can see where the domain points. Results are cached briefly to keep it fast and to respect registry usage limits.

Checking .np (Nepal) domains

Nepal’s .npregistry, run by Mercantile, doesn’t publish a public WHOIS, so for .com.np and .np we determine whether a domain is in use from its DNS records. Nepali businesses can register a .np domain for free at register.com.np. For .comand most global TLDs you’ll also get full registrar, age and expiry details.

About the traffic / popularity figure

Accurate visitor numbers are only available from paid services, so we don’t invent them. Where a domain is among the world’s most popular, we show a popularity rank; otherwise we link you to SimilarWeb for detailed traffic estimates.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check if a domain is available?

Type the domain (for example yourbusiness.com or yourbusiness.com.np) and press Check. The tool queries the official registry via RDAP/WHOIS: if no registration record exists it reports the domain as available; if a record exists it shows who owns it and when it was registered. Always confirm at a registrar before relying on availability.

What is domain age and why does it matter?

Domain age is how long ago the domain was first registered (its creation date). Older domains can carry more trust and SEO history. This tool shows the creation date and the age in years whenever the registry publishes it.

Does it work for .np (Nepal) domains?

Yes. Nepal's .np registry doesn't publish a public WHOIS, so for .np we confirm whether a domain is in use from its DNS records, and we link you to register.com.np (Mercantile) to register a free .np domain. For .com/.org/.net and most other TLDs you also get full registrar, age and expiry details.

Can it show website traffic?

Accurate visitor numbers aren't available for free, so this tool shows a popularity rank for well-known domains where available and links you to SimilarWeb for detailed traffic estimates. It never shows made-up traffic figures.

What's the difference between WHOIS, RDAP and DNS?

WHOIS and RDAP are registration records — who owns a domain and when it was registered (RDAP is the modern JSON version). DNS records (A, MX, NS, TXT) show where the domain points and whether it resolves. This tool combines all three.
